Two people are lucky to be alive after their car plunged off a bridge in Sloatsburg Saturday and landed 20 feet below on train tracks.

According to police, the vehicle was traveling southbound on Route 17 near Seven Lakes Drive around 2:30 p.m. Police say the car apparently crossed the road, hit a wall, flipped over and landed more than 20 feet below on the tracks.

The two occupants were taken by helicopter to Westchester Medical Center. Drivers had to contend with closures on Route 17 near Seven Lakes Drive during the police investigation into the accident.
