Elderly Yonkers murder victim laid to rest
A 78-year-old Yonkers woman who was murdered was laid to rest Friday in front of family and friends. Louise Paciarello was living at a senior housing complex on Seymour Street when a fire broke out in her apartment last week. At first it appeared she died as a result of that fire, but police later discovered Paciarello was strangled and the fire was set to cover up her murder.
Yonkers police escorted Paciarello?s body to Saint Anthony's Church. Pallbearers carefully carried the casket inside as half a dozen family members stood by. Paciarello was buried at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Mount Pleasant. The retired nurse's aide lived by herself and was described as a quiet person. Just before her death she told neighbors she felt someone may have tried to get into her apartment and may have left a threatening note. Yonkers police say some cash was found in her apartment after the fire. So far, there have been no arrests in her murder. To view comments from family friends, go to channel 612 on your iO digital cable box and click on iO Extra.Related Information Police: Yonkers fire was an attempt to cover up murder Cops: Yonkers fire did not cause elderly woman's death Fire at Yonkers senior complex claims tenant's life
