School bus rear-ended in multi-vehicle crash

At least three people were injured Wednesday in a multi-vehicle accident involving a school bus in Yorktown.
About 25 students from Ben Franklin Elementary School were on their way home on the bus when it was rear-ended by a minivan. The bus was turning from Route 132 onto Union Road when the accident occurred. Police say the minivan became wedged under the bus. They say the minivan was also hit in the rear by another vehicle, but police do no know which collision happened first.
Parents who had been waiting for the school bus just down the street frantically ran to the scene of the accident. The students were checked by EMTs on the bus and either released to their parents or taken home on a spare bus. The bus driver sought medical help for neck and back pain. The drivers of both the other vehicles were taken to the hospital. None of the children were injured in the accident.
