A construction worker was crushed to death by his own bulldozer in Tuxedo while installing a natural gas pipe line at Harriman State Park Saturday.

The 67-year-old worker was an employee of Precision Pipeline, a company contracted by the Millenium Pipeline company and was almost two miles deep into woods when the accident occurred. According to paramedics, the worker was laying pipe in the trench up a steep grade when the bulldozer flipped over backyards, throwing the man out of the vehicle. They say the bulldozer then rolled over several times and landed on top of the worker.

Police and rescue crews took two hours to reach the victim in all-terrain vehicles. He was pronounced dead at the scene. New York State police say the investigation into what exactly caused the accident is ongoing. The Millenium Pipeline Company is laying pipe along the same route as an old pipeline that brings natural gas from Corning to Ramapo. The $1 billion project, which began in June, is off the New York State Thruway near the border between Rockland and Orange Counties. Last Tuesday an accident on the same pipeline project in Warwick injured a worker in the mountains.
