Ceremonies honor veterans throughout Westchester

(11/12/07) PEEKSKILL ? Residents are honoring America?s veterans with ceremonies throughout Westchester Monday.
One such ceremony took place at what?s known simply as ?The Monument? on Highland Avenue and North Division Street in Peekskill. About 100 residents, including U.S. Rep. John Hall, attended the ceremony honoring the men and women in the armed forces.
Ongoing military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan gave the ceremony a heavier meaning for those in attendance.
?The men and women who are serving in the armed forces are dedicated heroes because they?re all volunteers and they?re putting their lives on the line to protect the United States of America,? says Army Spc. Pat Selleck.
Rep. Hall says this year, Congress voted for the biggest health care increase in the 77-year history of Veterans Affairs for veterans and those currently serving.
