Fire forces evacuation at Maryknoll School

A small fire caused the evacuation of the main seminary building at Maryknoll School in Ossining Thursday.
The fire occurred in a small kitchen in the dormitory area of the building, which is a historic landmark. The building is used as offices and dormitory rooms for the priests and other men living on the campus. Fire officials say the fire was confined to a small kitchenette on one of the upper floors and did minimal damage to the room.
The fire was quickly extinguished and everyone was allowed back in the building around 4 p.m. The Ossining fire chief says the cause was apparently accidental.
