Boyfriend arrested in Cortlandt baseball bat death

A man wanted for his girlfriend's brutal murder in their Cortlandt home is in police custody Sunday after an apparent suicide attempt.
Police believe Robert Sepe, 53, murdered his girlfriend with a baseball bat Friday. The woman has tentatively been identified as Janette Carlucci, 41, because authorities say her face was too badly beaten to immediately confirm her identity.
Sepe was found Saturday in Windsor, apparently trying to commit suicide. "Members of the New York State Police engaged Sepe for several hours until he was secured into custody," said investigator Bruce Cuccia, of the state police. He also said that the suspect's sons called police to the scene.
Authorities later realized that Sepe was wanted for the murder. He is currently awaiting a March 24 court appearance in the Westchester County Jail for second-degree murder.
Investigators expect to officially identify the body the same day during an autopsy using DNA or dental records.
