Two trespassers hit by NJ Transit train in Rockland

A New Jersey Transit train only minutes from its final stop in Spring Valley hit two trespassers walking on the tracks in Rockland Friday.
Both trespassers have been hospitalized in very serious condition. According to police, the two victims are both juvenile males.
One victim was taken to Westchester County Medical Center by helicopter. The second was taken by ambulance to Nyack Hospital.
Police say the New York State Thruway was closed for between a half-hour and 45 minutes in order to get the victims out of the heavily wooded area.
Nothing is certain yet, but the victims appeared to be walking at the time and may have gotten off their path. Investigators are still trying to determine exactly what caused the accident.
Police say they are not releasing any further information on the victims' identities or conditions until their families have been notified.
