Yonkers police raid alleged drug factory

Yonkers police say they recovered $30,000 worth of heroin from a drug factory housed inside an apartment on Bruce Avenue Tuesday.
Police say they found 2 ounces of pure heroin, along with 1,000 bags ready for sale hidden inside coffee cans and balanced on scales. Nearly 150 pills of the prescription drug Xanax were also seized. According to authorities, the chemicals used to package the heroin were so potent that officers raiding the apartment became sick and had to be hospitalized.
In the course of the raid, police arrested Richey Nieves, Eddy Torres and Elizabeth Castellano. All three are now facing felony drug possession charges.
