Cortlandt man killed in ATV crash

A Cortlandt family is in mourning after losing a son in an ATV accident Monday.
Police say Thomas Gardner was riding his all terrain vehicle on Locust Avenue when he lost control and crashed into a telephone pole.
According to investigators, Gardner was speeding and was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
Gardner's relatives, however, believe the 23-year-old was not alone at the time of the accident, and they are asking anyone with information to come forward.
Authorities say riding ATVs on paved roads is illegal. Those caught in the act could face a $150 fine or get their vehicle impounded.
