Daughter of slain newspaper heiress kills self

Police say the daughter of the murdered newspaper heiress Anne Scripps Douglas jumped to her death from the Tappan Zee Bridge Thursday night.
Police say 38-year-old Annie Petrillo, of Rye Brook, stopped her car on the southbound side of the bridge at 7:50 p.m. and leaped off the mid-span.
Crews from Westchester and Rockland counties searched the Hudson River for Petrillo's body Thursday night, but without success. The recovery operation continued Friday, but the river's swift current has been hampering to divers' efforts.
Petrillo's stepfather, Scott Douglas, also jumped off the Tappan Zee Bridge in 1994 after beating to death her mother at their Bronxville mansion.
