Shots fired as anti-violence plan unveiled

Shots were fired at Scholboum Houses Thursday afternoon just after a candidate for Westchester district attorney announced his plan to combat gang violence in Yonkers.
Police arrived on the scene after receiving a call about gunfire at the public housing complex off Walsh Road. No one was hurt, but two suspects were taken into custody.
Just miles away from Scholboum Houses, Republican candidate for district attorney Dan Schorr laid out his plan to curb violence, which has left five people dead and 44 injured between Jan. 1 and Oct. 1.
"We need people inside the gangs or who know where they gather to act and give the information to police," Schorr says.
