Peekskill mourns Peekskill comedian Jimmy McNair who died in NJ crash

Hundreds of people came together in Peekskill Sunday to mourn the loss of longtime resident and comedian Jimmy McNair, who was killed in a crash in New Jersey yesterday.
McNair died early Saturday morning in a six-vehicle crash on the New Jersey Turnpike that left comedian Tracy Morgan hospitalized in critical condition.
The 63-year-old comedian was famous for giving fellow funnyman Morgan his start..
Morgan's assistant, Jeffrey Millea, was also in the bus and is in critical condition, as is Jersey City comedian Ardie Fuqua. Comedian Harris Stanton was treated and released.?
Officials say 35-year-old Kevin Roper, of Georgia, was driving a Wal-Mart tractor-trailer that hit a coach bus carrying McNair, Morgan and several others, causing it to flip over. Roper turned himself in to police on Sunday.
Roper surrendered to police Sunday morning and has been charged with death by auto. Prosecutors say Roper also faces four counts of assault by auto stemming from the accident.
Members of McNair's church say he had a heart of gold and was a constant presence in charities and as a volunteer worker.
Church members say the news has crushed them and that McNair is a man who will be sorely missed.
McNair leaves behind two children, their mother and six siblings.
