Reward offered in rare Pleasantville murder

Authorities hope a $2,500 reward will help solve the stabbing death of a widow.
Linda Falkoff, 76, was found stabbed to death in her Grandview Avenue home more than a week ago. Falkoff had been dead at least five days when she was found, according to police.
The murder is Pleasantville's first since 1996.
With no arrests made, the crime has become the talk of the quiet Westchester County village. Some residents worry that the murder might go unsolved, like the January 1996 murder of Tom Dorr. Dorr, a volunteer firefighter, was fatally stabbed while walking to a firehouse during a snowstorm. His murder remains unsolved.
"It's the first thing of this nature since the Tom Dorr fireman murder -- something this community isn't use to," said a resident.
