State Sen. David Carlucci has defeated Republican opponent Donna Held in the race for the 38th state Senate District.
Earlier on Election Day, Carlucci said he was confident of victory. "In the Hudson Valley, the problems are too big for one party to solve them all," he said. "You know, there's no monopoly on good ideas. Once the election is over, we've got to focus on governing."
Held ran unsuccessfully for Rockland County clerk two years ago. While most of the 38th state Senate District is in Rockland County, it also includes Ossining in Westchester.
