Legislator aims to pass ‘no knock’ bill to curb solicitors

Legislator Laurie Santulli is working to pass a "no knock" law in Rockland County that would allow residents to stop solicitors from knocking on their doors.
Residents in Chestnut Ridge say that their neighborhood is attracting large numbers of homebuyers from rapidly growing areas like New Square and Monsey. They say the large numbers are creating a housing crisis and has realtors going door to door, asking them to sell.
Some homeowners feel that they are being harassed by the practice.
Santulli says her bill could be up for vote within weeks. She says a similar law recently passed in Orangetown.
