Snow creates slippery road conditions

The snow is falling heavily in Yonkers, creating slippery and treacherous conditions on the roads.

Crews are beginning to clear out main streets, but the roads are quickly being covered with more snow.

Most secondary roads have not been plowed. If you are on a dead-end street, roads may not be cleared until Sunday.

DPW officials are advising residents to stay off the roads if possible. They are also asking residents to move their cars off of the street so they can plow.

A blizzard warning has been issued for southern Westchester County, and the Hudson Valley is under a winter storm warning.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo declared state of emergency in New York. He also banned travel on state roads at 2:30 pm., and the Metro-North suspended service.
