Firefighters recover after battling Yonkers flames

Several Yonkers firefighters are recovering this morning from injuries sustained battling a fire Wednesday night.

Officials say the flames started in the basement of a house on the 100 block of Morsemere Avenue at around 7 p.m.

They say the one person home at the time was alerted by a smoke detector and escaped.

The Office of Emergency Management is helping the family until they can return back home.
