Water main break shuts down New Windsor road

A water main break early Thursday morning in New Windsor shut down a major road for most of the day.
New Windsor Water Department officials say a pipe 10 inches in diameter broke along Route 32 at around 4 a.m. Because of the break, town water customers along Route 32 spent much of the morning with either low pressure or no water at all.
Customers along Route 32 have had services restored, but a boil water advisory is expected to remain in effect for a couple of days.
A similar water main break in Elmsford happened a few hours earlier. Water department officials say service has since been restored there.
