Man pistol-whipped in New Rochelle assault

A man says he was robbed and pistol-whipped by two men in New Rochelle overnight.
Police say a man came into the New Rochelle police station about 12:45 a.m. and said he'd been attacked. They say the man was bruised and bloodied around the face.
The victim claims he'd been in suite 111 of the building at 364 North Ave. when he was beaten. "He said two black males, one armed with a gun, forced their way into his apartment and pistol whipped him. Both suspects were wearing masks," says New Rochelle Police Capt. Joseph Schaller. And while detectives say there was blood inside the suite, they found nothing had been stolen from the victim or the suite, so the incident for now is classified as an assault.
Police say they took the man to the hospital where he was treated and released.
