Yonkers holds annual Memorial Day Parade

The streets of Yonkers were red, white and blue Saturday as the city honored soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Thousands of people lined McLean Avenue for the City of Yonkers Memorial Day Parade. The parade included marching bands, step teams, cheerleaders and representatives from all branches of the U.S. military.

A special tribute was paid to service members of WWI known as "doughboys."

May 30 is the traditional for Memorial Day observation. It was moved to the last Monday of May in 1971 to create a three-day weekend.
