West Point Mint to release March of Dimes coin

A new March of Dimes commemorative coin will soon be available to the public.

The coin is being made at the U.S. Mint at West Point.

The head of the coin is imprinted with the images of Franklin Delano Roosevelt and the physician who invented the polio vaccine, Dr. Jonas Salk.

On the back of the coin is an image of a baby being held in the hands of its parent.

A total of 75,000 coins will be made, and a portion of the proceeds will go toward the March of Dimes.

The March of Dimes was responsible for the elimination of polio in the U.S.

Since then, the foundation has made healthy babies and putting an end to premature birth its mission.

The coin goes on sale Friday and costs about $50.
