Bronx mourns first Puerto Rican-born congressman

The Bronx is mourning the death of the first person born in Puerto Rico to become a U.S. congressman.
Herman Badillo died Wednesday at 85 years old of complications from congestive heart disease.
Badillo served as Bronx borough president and deputy mayor, along with serving the House of Representatives from 1971 to 1977.
Current Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. said in a statement, "I am deeply saddened by the passing of a man whom I looked up to as a role model." He added, "Badillo was a true Bronxite and the epitome of a passionate leader who truly cared for his community."
The funeral will be held Sunday morning at the Campbell Funeral Home in Manhattan.
