Storms cause school closures and power outages
Heavy rain and gusty winds overnight have caused school closures, power outages and road flooding across the Hudson Valley today.
Katonah-Lewisboro schools were closed due to power outages at four of five schools in the district. Putnam Valley Central School District has also shut down for the day. Bedford schools were on a two-hour delay.
Orange and Rockland Utilities and Con Edison say they both have over 3,000 customers without electricity.  Downed branches and trees are knocking out power lines and crews are scrambling to fix service.
The rain is also causing difficult driving conditions. In Pleasantville, a tree fell  across Mountain Road, knocking down power lines and shutting down the road. In Rockland County, a section of Montebello Road in Montebello is back open this morning after it was closed because of water covering the road on Sunday.
Officials say they are keeping a close eye on traditional flood spots such as Route 59 in Nyack and on the Saw Mill River, Taconic, and Bronx River parkways
The rain is expected to taper off throughout the morning hours Monday morning, leaving behind mostly cloudy skies. But it stays windy for the day, with winds at 25-30 mph. High temperatures will be 56 degrees on Monday. Conditions clear up for Tuesday, which will see mostly sunny skies with high temperatures around 58 degrees.
