State Senator, and Dutchess County native, Sue Serino is set to begin radiation treatment today after announcing her battle with breast cancer.
Serino shared the news publicly in an effort to raise awareness about the importance of routine health screenings -- even during the pandemic. "Like many women, I was a person who routinely rescheduled my mammograms, never thinking twice about putting my work or family schedule ahead of my health. When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, I was looking for any excuse to reschedule this last one, but that nagging voice in my head told me to keep it, and thank God I did."
The Republican says she will continue to serve the state's 41st senate district.
