State Sen. David Carlucci is calling on the governor to sign legislation that will increase the penalties for what's dubbed "revenge porn."
Carlucci held a news conference yesterday at the Clarkstown Police Headquarters to ask for prompt action.
Law enforcement agencies say current law does not fully protect people who have intimate photographs posted online without their permission. Carlucci's bill would toughen those penalties, and only needs Gov. Cuomo's signature to become law. "We just passed this legislation at the end of session and it hasn't been sent to the governor yet. The governor has until the end of this year to sign the legislation, and I'm confident that he will," says Carlucci.
There's no word on when or even if the governor might sign the legislation.
