State police investigate Putnam Valley brawl between rival football teams
Police are investigating a brawl in Putnam Valley Saturday evening that left one young person in the hospital.
The brawl occurred at the Rose Hills Memorial Park Cemetery, just off Mill Street.
State police say the fight, which was planned by varsity athletes, involved two rival football teams. They are investigating the incident as a gang assault.
Officials say the person who was injured in the brawl may have also been robbed.
The names of the schools have not been released, but News 12 reached out to Putnam Valley High School, which is the closest school to the cemetery. The principal told News 12 that they did not receive notification from the police about the alleged event, and they have no facts to report.
The victim remains at the trauma center at Westchester Medical Center. News 12 has learned that the victim's injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
