Friends and family in Somers said a final farewell to a local woman killed in the Sri Lanka Easter attacks.
Mourners arrived at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church for the funeral Mass for Chelsea Dicaminada, a 26-year-old who graduated in 2011 from John Jay Cross River.
Dicaminada was on assignment in Sri Lanka for her job with the U.S. Department of Commerce, when she was injured during the Easter Sunday terrorist attack in Sri Lanka that killed more than 200 people. Dicaminada succumbed to her injuries two weeks later.
Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross released a statement saying Decaminada served her country with distinction and that we must continue the fight against terrorism around the world.
Westchester County Executive George Latimer also released a statement offering condolences, saying the county mourns the loss of one of its own.
