The outpouring of support and sympathy for the victims of Charleston church shooting is being felt in the Hudson Valley.

The First Baptist Church in Spring Valley held an interfaith prayer vigil yesterday, as a show of solidarity for the nine victims of the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church shooting.

Church leaders say it was a special service to show that love can overcome. "I think it says a lot about the diversity of people that came here tonight. All in support of love for everyone I'm trying to break down those barriers of racism," says Rabbi Ariel Russo, of the Congregation Sons of Israel.

The service was organized by the Rockland County Ministers Alliance. The group is now planning to go to South Carolina to provide further support for the victim's families.
