Westchester shoppers did not let the tough economy scare them into sitting out Halloween this year, but merchants say their customers kept an eye on their wallets.
"They're comparing prices, and they're going for cheaper options," says Sophia Mata, the owner of Rojay Party Store in Scarsdale.
Leftera Williams, of Yonkers, says she couldn't afford to buy a full Halloween getup this year, so she decided to go for a budget-conscious costume consisting of a wig and a mask.
Louis Antunez, assistant manager at Spooky Town in Hartsdale, says last-minute shoppers flooded the store Saturday.
