Thousands of people gathered at the Yonkers and Hudson River waterfronts Friday night to see the annual Fourth of July fireworks extravaganza.
People arrived at the pier as early as noon to enjoy the holiday and wait for the fireworks as crews assembled the sound system that played festive music for the Independence Day celebration.
John Thurston brought his children and grandchildren to celebrate Fourth of July on the pier.
?It gives you a great ambiance to be close to the water,? Thurston says.
Sadhana Grice recently moved to Yonkers. She says she enjoyed being amid such a vibrant crowd who helped to fill the revitalized waterfront Friday night.
