Sources: Man found dead in W. Harrison related to Mahopac homicide victim
News 12 has learned that a man found dead in an apparent suicide in a West Harrison parking lot is the in-law of a 75-year-old woman found slain in Mahopac last week.
The 69-year-old man was found dead in his car at the intersection of Park Avenue and Hancock Street Tuesday morning. Police have not confirmed that it was a suicide.
The Park Avenue location is the same spot where state and local police spent much of Monday looking for clues into the suspicious death last week of Mahopac resident Perla Gatchalian.
Gatchalian, 75, was found dead in her home on Coventry Circle last Thursday. Investigators were reportedly looking to see if Gatchalian had family in the area.
Carmel police also confirmed they removed a car from a home on Park Avenue over the weekend, but wouldn't provide any other details.
State police were also seen scouring a wooded area in Yorktown Tuesday afternoon, emerging with a box after taking photos on a private property off Route 6. Sources say a weapon was recovered there.
Police will be holding a news conference at the Town of Carmel Town Hall Wednesday morning.
