Source: 14-year-old boy shot in Hempstead; 2 arrested

A News 12 source says a 14-year-old boy was shot Tuesday evening on North Franklin Street in Hempstead in what could be an act of gang violence.
Court documents say the gunfire erupted around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. The police report says two shots were fired, striking the young victim once in the pelvis.
Maicol Figueroa, 20, of Hempstead was named as a suspect and has since been arrested. He is being held on $500,000 bond.
News 12 has learned a 14-year-old was also arrested in connection with the crime. He is being prosecuted as a juvenile.
Newsday reports the victim underwent surgery and is in stable condition.
