Two employees of a nursing home in Somers are reporting serious allegations against the home.
The employees at The Paramount at Somers asked to remain anonymous, but said there isn’t enough staff to care for the patients. They also said there was no hand soap and that they had to use the same masks for five days.
The workers said they had to wear their PPE gown for five days with confirmed and unconfirmed COVID-19 patients.

"If someone is a presume case, they are not being moved into a different room. They are staying in a room with a resident who has no symptoms," says the workers.
The nursing home administration denies these claims, saying in part, "once a patient shows symptoms that are related to COVID-19 or have tested positive, they are immediately transferred and isolated…and their responsible party immediately notified."

They tell News 12 the staff is also given ample supplies of PPE and accurate thermometers for them and patients.
When asked if nursing homes can handle the recent influx of patients, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said “a nursing home takes in a COVID person if, capital I, capital F, if they can adequately care for that person."
State Sen. Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins similarly said, "if you cannot accommodate the patient, whatever it is they have, then they shouldn't be there."
