Many industries are struggling due to the changes brought by the coronavirus pandemic, but some Hudson Valley farms are actually seeing a boost to business.
"We're doing about 50, 60 calls a day. I’ve had to add staff to take calls and pack the bags,” says Fishkill Farms manager Mark Doyle.
Due to the no-contact curbside service rule, the century-old farm wasn’t prepared for the quick turnaround.
"We're seeing double the sales in our farm store. It was a good surprise and it's very gratifying because we know that we're helping feed folks in a time of need,” says owner Josh Morgenthau.
Another flourishing farm is Freedom Hill Farm in Otisville. Owner Rick Freeland says they normally receive 1,000 milk customers on a regular basis, but since the pandemic began they have received 2,000 per week.
News 12 is told the jump is a result of families searching for safer ways to obtain groceries while practicing social distancing.
