Soldier visits pen pals at White Plains school
A soldier from Somers visited some school children today who helped make his time in the Middle East more bearable.
The students at Good Counsel Academy Elementary School in White Plains adopted Army Spc. Justin Dihart as their pen pal and wrote him several times a month while he was stationed in Iraq.
Dihart visited every classroom in the school to thank the students for their support.
"It means a lot to get mail; it's one of the few things that we really have to motivate us and keep us going, it reminds you what you're doing," Dihart says.
Dihart has until the beginning of January before he has to report back to Fort Riley in Kansas where he is now stationed.
