Firefighters worked feverishly to stop a fire from spreading from a Chinese restaurant to other shops in a Yorktown Heights strip mall overnight.
Fire officials say flames broke out just after 11:30 p.m. at the Sue and Hai Chinese Restaurant on Saw Mill River Road.
Crews had a tough time locating exactly where the flames were coming from within the double-tiered strip mall. Fire officials say it took nearly a half an hour to find a bunch of smoking electrical cords in the lower level rear of the mall, in the back of the restaurant.
Once the hot spot was located, crews quickly went to work putting out the fire before flames spread.
Fire officials say luckily the damage was minimal. They say a number of shops suffered smoke damage.
No one was injured in the fire.
