Authorities in Rockland County are issuing a warning about a phone scam involving a caller who poses as a sheriff.
The Rockland County Sheriff's Office says it has received reports that a person is calling residents pretending to be an officer.
They say one of the callers claimed to be "Sheriff Devan."
That caller told one of the victims they needed to resolve an issue or would be subject to arrest.
Officials say they would not call and threaten arrest for unpaid money.
