Yorktown crews were busy Thursday installing sewer lines to get dozens of homes off of septic systems.
The homeowners are finally getting the sewer services that they've been paying for with taxes. Cathy D'Amato has been leading the fight over the stinky mess since 2003. According to D'Amato, her septic tank often backed up, leaving waste to fester on her lawn.
D'Amato says the new sewer lines make the fight with the town and Westchester County all worth it.
The town supervisor says crews are working to hook up pipes to homes and adds that about 1,000 more homes will be getting sewers.
