Set of storms pack a wallop in Westchester
Residents are recovering from flash flooding, downed trees and power outages from powerful storms Wednesday.
Strong winds toppled a huge tree onto a house on Wilson Drive in New Rochelle around 8:45 p.m. No one was injured, however, rain poured through the gaping hole left from the tree.
The sound of chain saws could be heard all over the county Thursday as crews began the arduous task of cleaning up.
At one point during the storm, 18,000 Con Edison customers in Westchester were in the dark. Thursday, about 4,000 customers were affected, mostly in White Plains, Mamaroneck, Rye and New Rochelle.To view storm damage in White Plains, one of the hardest hit areas in the county, click here.
