Friends and family said goodbye Wednesday to a man who died more than a year after a car accident in 2016.
Jyrel Daniel, 23, passed away on March 25 from complications related to a traumatic brain injury suffered as a result of the accident.
The wake and funeral was held Wednesday in New Rochelle. Before the accident, the New Rochelle High School graduate was in the process of getting his MBA at Johson and Wales University.
Despite suffering from a traumatic brain injury, Daniel survived even though he had a 3 percent chance to live.
With the help of physical therapy, Daniel was able to stand again within a year.
The young man lost his battle after suffering a seizure and going into cardiac arrest last Sunday.
Daniel was a passenger in a friends' car when another hit them straight on. The driver of that vehicle has been charged with two counts of second-degree assault. There is no word on whether those charges will now be upgraded.
