A Briarcliff Manor High School student's stage antics during graduation may cost him his diploma.
A YouTube video shows David Turano, 18, walking across the stage at Pace University Thursday night like his fellow classmates to get his diploma. Turano then shocked the crowd of hundreds when he turned around and dropped his pants, mooning the audience.
"Everyone was looking away when it happened," said student Lizzy Chalesen. "It was immature of him, I think."
Principal James Kaishian didn't give Turano his diploma and later alerted police. The teen is charged with disorderly conduct and exposing himself.
It's unclear whether Turano, who is a Pleasantville Ambulance Corp volunteer, will receive the diploma. He's also been banned from school property.
Family friend Elizabeth Grano believes the punishment doesn't fit the crime. "I think it was a childish act ? maybe not in the best taste. I don't think it was criminal," she said.
