Sen. Chuck Schumer introduces bill for better veterans care
There is a new push to try and help veterans receive better health care following the recent VA hospital scandal.
Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) is making a push on the Senate floor this week for more than 350,000 vets across New York State. The proposed legislation will improve veterans' access to care by hiring more doctors and nurses and cutting back wait times.
Schumer says the nation's entire VA health care system is currently under investigation and that more can be done to address these problems. "Unfortunately, we learned in Phoenix that veterans are not getting the health care they need and, at least in some parts of the VA, there's a lot of rot."
The bill is set to come up for a vote in the next two weeks.
