Retailers are winding down from their biggest shopping weekend of the year, but not all brick-and-mortar stores are reaping the benefits.
Following a five-day shopping frenzy, some people walking out of Sears in White Plains said they were anything but overwhelmed. Shopper Herman Clarke said the store was like a ghost town.
Sears filed for bankruptcy in October and needs to turn a profit to survive and avoid liquidation. Despite Sears’ questionable future, some families say it's still their go-to choice for a traditional customer experience.
The chief brand officer for Sears says he's optimistic holiday sales will help the company come out of Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
The National Retail Federation predicted there would be more than 164 million shoppers over the holiday weekend, and that 75 million shoppers would take advantage of online bargains on Cyber Monday.
