Family and friends are preparing to say their final goodbyes today to a Spring Valley man murdered last weekend as police continue to look for the killer.
The family of Stalin De La Cruz Tigsalema will gather at the Sniffen-Sagala Funeral Home later today. A vigil was held at the family home last night.
The 20-year-old Ecuadorian native was walking to his home on Van Orden Avenue early Saturday morning when he was stabbed several times in the chest, stomach and back.
He somehow managed to walk to his home for help where family members then flagged down a police car in the area.
Tigsalema was taken to a hospital but later died from his injuries.
Family members tell News 12 his phone was missing so they are wondering if this was a robbery gone wrong. They are offering a $5,000 reward for any information that leads to an arrest.
They say he worked in construction alongside his father, had been here in the U.S for about a year, and they describe him as a good hard working family guy with no criminal record or history of violence.
Tigsalema's family is simply devastated as they now plan to bring his body back to Ecuador for burial. He leaves behind a 2-year-old daughter.
