Taxpayers flooded the polls Tuesday at six school districts across Westchester County for a re-vote on the budgets.
Sports, academics and more are on the line in the Mount Pleasant, North Salem, Eastchester, Tuckahoe, Pocantico Hills and Hendrick Hudson school districts. In Tuckahoe, taxpayers will vote on a $23.2 million budget for the next school year, which is a 10 percent increase over this year's budget. However, the revised budget contains less money than the original plan defeated a few weeks ago by just 64 votes. The school board cut half a million dollars in textbooks, extra-curricular activities and teachers.
Despite their ever-increasing taxes, many residents say they don?t want to see anymore cuts in the schools. If the budgets don?t get passed this time, the schools will go on a contingency plan.
