The Lakeland Central School District says two of its elementary school students have developed the potentially deadly staph infection MRSA in recent weeks.
The students attend two different schools, Thomas Jefferson School and Lincoln-Titus Elementary School. The district is not giving further specifics, citing privacy laws.
A letter to Lincoln-Titus parents was sent home earlier in the week outlining the steps the district was taking to deal with the infection. The Thomas Jefferson student developed MRSA earlier this month, according to district officials.
Lakeland Central School District Superintendent Kenneth Connolly says both students were allowed to return to school after their doctors gave the OK.
