School bus hits woman in Mount Vernon
A school monitor was rushed to the hospital after being hit by a school bus in Mount Vernon Monday morning.
The bus was heading out of the Mile Square Transportation yard at 701 Columbus Ave. when it struck the monitor around 7:15 a.m.
The bus monitor was taken to Jacobi Medical Center and is expected to be OK. Police say she suffered minor head trauma and a broken hip.
News 12 has been told that protocol requires bus drivers to honk their horns when leaving the bus yard, but it is not clear whether that happened in this case.
Investigators believe the incident was an accident, and no charges are being filed against the driver.
