Scarsdale father remembers son lost to cancer
A Scarsdale father was in tears Wednesday, remembering his late son who died of cancer at the age of 10.
Paul Jimenez says he never imagined that one day he would be on a family vacation to Washington, D.C., and then 11 weeks later, his son Paulie would be dead.
The boy had a rare cancer -- a malignant tumor between his spleen and pancreas was inoperable.
So the father and son started a campaign for pediatric cancer research by selling T-shirts through Booster.com with the logo "#PaulieStrong."
Paulie died of complications from the illness in January.
The T-shirts have become mainstays of the family's wardrobe. They want the movement to grow larger, especially as Paulie would have turned 11 years old next month.
Feb. 15 marks International Childhood Cancer Awareness Day.
