There was some good news for drivers who had to battle flooded roadways Friday. The construction work on the Saw Mill River Parkway was completed and the stretch of road was reopened.Workers added 12 inches of asphalt to a quarter-mile stretch of the parkway between exit 27 in Thornwood and exit 29 in Pleasantville. The work began on Monday and finished on time. The fix was done to alleviate flooding, which caused that section of the parkway to close repeatedly in heavy rains.
However, the Bronx River Parkway was turned into a virtual river from the County Center in White Plains to the Saw Mill River Parkway. Some drivers even got stranded and had to abandon their cars until the waters receded.
